(My build of USS Fanning at this point is) as done as any of my ships:

...I paint early (in each build
because) it gives me a better look at the shapes of wood. With
Fanning, the first thing I saw was (too much) extra girth and height.
The next thing was the 5" enclosed mounts were way out of scale. I
made them smaller.

I added rails, some of my precious, expensive, and hard to get carly floats...
